Resources should be available to everyone no matter the income level of the area or school’s performance. Also, not just teaching to the test. That isn’t learning, it is memorizing. More focus on learning and being passionate about the subjects you are engaged in. There should be programs in the arts and those should be treated just as importantly as math and science. There should be more aid for students wishing to go to college. Even better college should be free as long as the person going will go into a government job for a couple years (so politicians can’t complain as much). Teachers should also be paid a decent wage.

There should be a larger focus on teaching “real-world” skills that are actually useful for a life and job outside of University, e.g. interviewing, workplace etiquette, company structures, projects instead of tests etc.. In many ways, I believe that this is a problem caused by the academia-driven nature of Professors – they live in a small bubble comprised of grants, publications and research within a University. With the majority of students pursuing a life outside of academia, they never have a chance to learn the aforementioned “real-world” skills in the classroom and therefore must spend more time and money outside of it. This extra-curricular learning also tends to be generalized, but just like an actual degree it needs to be tailored to fit specific industries to really prepare students for the challenges that lie ahead.

An Ideal education is something that you can take with you, something that can be used for the future and is valued by the individual who is receiving. There should be equal access and should be looked at as a tool for developing oneself as well as a community.
